Diet for Patients with Purpura Nephritis

2011-05-16 19:59

As one kind of kidney disease, besides active treatment, patients with Purpura Nephritis should also pay attention to the daily health care, such as preventing getting a cold, taking exercise so as to strengthen the immunity. In addition, diet is also very important. Then, how do patients take care of the diet every day?

Firstly, patients should stop allergic food, such as milk, fish, shrimps, etc. Patients should choose proper food based on their own conditions. Secondly, patients should choose delicate and nutritious food which is easily to digest and absorb. Try to avoid coarse food or food which contains much fibrosis, such as celery, rape, bamboo shoot, pineapple, which will abrade the gastrointestinal mucous membrane and induce or worsen the bleeding of gastrointestinal tract. In addition, barbecue food, undercooked beef, mutten, pork, etc, should also be banned. Besides, smoking, alcohol and spicy food are included, too so that digestive tract bleeding will happen or worsen. If patients with Purpura Nephritis have high blood pressure or edema, they should also limit the intake of salt.

Thirdly, patients should control the intake of protein strictly. The persistant low of plasma protein will lead the immunity to decrease, and make infection happen easily. What’s worse, the edema appears repeatedly. Food rich in high protein can lead to the high filtration of glomeruli. The intake of protein should keep 1g/kg per day. What’s more, keep low-salt diet, and the intake of salt should be 1g-3g per day. When patients are cooking, they should not use animal oil, so as to reduce the hyperlipemia.

The last but not the least, during treatment, patients should have a good rest. Patients with serious disease mustn’t bath for a long time so as to prevent getting a cold and excessive fatigue. The time of watching TV or reading should not be over half an hour. In addition, patients should avoid riding a bike, and never go shopping. Keep a good mood and follow the doctor’s advice.
