The Symptoms of Diabetic Nephropathy

Most Diabetic Nephropathy patients are asymptoatic in the early stage and their blood pressure are in normal condition or a little higher than usual. If measured by RIA, the discharge rate of the microalbuminuria is more than 200 micrograms per min. The disease in this period is called latent kidney disease, or early-stage kidney disease. If hypertension and hyperglycemia can be controlled positively , the pathological changes can take a favourable turn or if not it is possible to deteriorate into clinical Diabetic Nephropathy.
The symptoms of Diabetic Nephropathy at this stage are as follows:
● Proteinuria
Due to the increased of the glomerular filtration pressure and the changes of the charge on the filtration, microalbumin appears in the urine, that is selective albuminuria, without the increase of globulin. This kind of state can continue for many years. With filter hole of the glomerular basement membrane becoming large, the macromolecular substances can go through the hole and the non-selective clinical albuminuria appears. With the further development of lesions, the urinary albumin gradually becomes persistent heavy proteinuria, if urinary protein is more than 3 grams per day, which are the bad signs. The order of severity of the proteinuria of the Diabetic Nephropathy patients is progressive until the Nephrotic Syndrome appears.
●Anemia
The Diabetic patients with nitremia will have mild or moderate anemia. As for the anemia, the chalybeate treatment is invalid. Anemia is caused by the obstacles of erythropoietin, which has something to do with the long-term limited protein diet and nitremia.
● Hypertension
Hypertension is common for the Diabetic Nephropathy patients. Serious kidney disease often accompanys with hypertension which can accelerate the deterioration of the Diabetic Nephropathy. So it is important to control hypertension effectively.
●Edema
Generally speaking, the diabetes nephrosis patients in the early stage don’t have edema. A minority of patients have slight edema before the plasma protein falls. For the Diabetic Nephropathy patients, if their urine protein exceeds 3 grams within 24 hours, the edema will be appeared.
Only for the diabetes kidney disease patients with their disease changed fast, edema will be appeared around the whole body of them..
● Renal insufficiency
It is a kind of progressive disease once the Diabetic Nephropathy starts. The last results are nitrogen and Uremia.
● Other symptoms
Retinopathy isn’t the symptom of the Diabetic Nephropathy although it often accompanys with the patients. Even some people consider that the patients without diabetic retinopathy aren’t likely to have Diabetic Nephropathy.
